The Corsair Force 3 is one of the slowest SSD's we have seen to date. Its real world speed rating of 305.7 MB/s puts it just above the bottom of the pack. Looking at its server orientated performance just makes matters worse, due to its now dated Sandforce controller which is known to deliver relatively poor incompressible transfer speeds, the Force 3 has the lowest AS-SSD total score (593) we have seen to date. This drive is out-dated and best avoided as a new purchase. Of course as with all the SSD's in the group test, it will still trounce any mechanical hard drive and is not a bad performer in absolute terms. ^{[Feb '13 SSDrivePro]}

The Sandisk Extreme II uses the 88SS9187-BLD2 controller, Marvel's latest, and Sandisk's own 19MM MLC Memory. On paper this makes an extremely good combination and the benchmarks agree. The Extreme II scored an impressive 1143 in the server orientated AS SSD Benchmark putting it amongst the more capable server drives. In terms of real world consumer performance the Extreme II also fared well achieving a real world speed index score of 570.5 MB/s, amongst the top three scores we have seen to date. The Extreme II has everything going for it apart from its price which is currently significantly above average and hurting its value rating. Because the Extreme is the newest SSD we have in our group test we expect prices will drop with time. Until then, however, there is better value to be had elsewhere. ^{[Jun '13 SSDrivePro]}
