Effective Speed: Average (44th percentile)

The RevoDrive 3 X2 has an unbalanced performance profile that won't suit the majority of desktop users. Despite demonstrating a record breaking sequential read speed the RevoDrive shows relative weakness in all the other speed categories. Its Sandforce controller handles compressible data magnificently but fails miserably on incompressible data which is why the AS SSD benchmark figures are less than half the official performance figures stated by OCZ. The RevoDrive is a PCIE based drive so has higher potential bandwidth than SATA 3 drives but with the exception of Sequential Read, the RevoDrive doesn't make use of the additional bandwidth. There are far better deals available elsewhere. [Nov '12 SSDrivePro]

I need to recheck this card.. the numbers seem good.. but I'm not sure why this PCIE SSD is being compared to Internal SSD...

I've owned the Revodrive 3 x2 240gb for two years and use it as a games drive only. The load times are blisteringly fast which suits me as a gamer. However as a boot drive which it was originally bought for it was quite flaky and needed constant attention, including several disk checks. After one such check the drive was written off and all unused space declared "Bad" which forced a format and reinstallation of all software. When this happen a second time it was relegated to games drive only, where it has performed without any problems for nearly two years. If you want a fast boot I recommend a new ssd like the MX100, or if you are building a new system go for motherboard with a new M2 drive slot as these promise to be fast. Just my opinion.

Very good

As far fixed storage goes, this is the equivalent of a Ferrari, the headline transfer rates stated in the official specs are based on compressible data. The AS-SSD benchmark uses incompressible data hence shows 780/300 MB/s as the sequential read/write speeds.
