In today's market the only thing the Mushkin Chronos has going for it is the fact that it is an SSD and as such considerably faster than a regular hard drive. Compared to other SSDs this drive is right at the bottom of the pack. Thanks to the combination of its now aged Sandforce controller and the use of Asynchronous Flash Memory, the Chronos has a real world speed of just 224 MBps. Its AS SSD total score of 487 is also the worst I have seen to date on a 240 GB SSD. To be fair this drive is over two years old which equates to around four generations in the very fast moving SSD space. There are far better value for money alternatives available. [Sep '13 SSDrivePro]

Good average bench

The Mushkin Chronos 240GB averaged 28.3% lower than the peak scores attained by the group leaders. This isn't a great result which indicates that there are much faster alternatives on the comparison list.

The drive is reliable, and certainly faster than the Disk drive it replaced. However, I was disappointed by the ATTO benchmarks used to rate it, which of course give the illusion that this is a 500 mb + contender. My Crystalmark scores are more like 180mb range (read, less for write). I have my Steam library on this drive. My boot/OS drive is a Samsung 840 (not the pro) and it hits the 500 mb range consistently. This drive uses Asynchronous memory. For those that don't know, the tiers of memory speed are from slowest to fastest: Asynchronous, Synchronous, Toggle. —Sep '14
