The Corsair Force 3 is one of the slowest SSD's we have seen to date. Its real world speed rating of 305.7 MB/s puts it just above the bottom of the pack. Looking at its server orientated performance just makes matters worse, due to its now dated Sandforce controller which is known to deliver relatively poor incompressible transfer speeds, the Force 3 has the lowest AS-SSD total score (593) we have seen to date. This drive is out-dated and best avoided as a new purchase. Of course as with all the SSD's in the group test, it will still trounce any mechanical hard drive and is not a bad performer in absolute terms. [Feb '13SSDrivePro]
The Crucial 128GB MX100 has the smallest capacity and is the slowest of the MX100 range. Comparing the 128GB and 256GB MX100s shows that the 256GB version has a 75% faster write speed. Within the MX100 range write speeds scale linearly with capacity, as a consequence, the 128GB version struggles to compete with similarly priced drives from other manufacturers. On the other hand, the 512GB version and to a lesser extent the 256GB version offer far better value for money. Overall the MX100 has an effective speed which is amongst the top 30% of 128GB drives so its not bad by any means but there are however both cheaper and faster alternatives available in the now extremely competitive 128GB SSD category.
