The Vertex 450 is the third SSD OCZ have released in the last eighteen months. The 450 features an updated version of the now somewhat proven Indilinx Barefoot controller which was first seen in the Vector just over 9 Months ago. The core performance figures for the Vertex 450 are disappointingly weaker, albeit marginally, than both the Vector (by 16%) and the Vertex 4 (by 11%). The Vertex 450 is currently retailing for more than the Vertex 4 and roughly the same as the better performing Vector so the 450 cannot be recommended at this time. That said the 450 is still amongst the top ten SSDs currently on the market and will be well worth consideration when prices drop after retailers have had a chance to build up stock. The 240GB OCZ ARC has a solid performance profile with particularly strong 4K speeds. The ARC is positioned below both OCZ's enthusiast Vector 150 and the mainstream Vertex 460 but based on hardware specs there is very little separating the drives (newer NAND on the ARC). Comparing the Vertex 460 and ARC shows that the ARC lags particularly in terms of sequential write speed but the overall difference in effective speed is marginal. The broad performance equivalence coupled with the fact that the Vertex 460 is available at the same price point makes the 240GB ARC somewhat redundant for the time being. Given that the ARC is relatively new, prices are likely to drop significantly over the coming months at which point the ARC may make more sense. [Sep '14SSDrivePro]
