The Kingston HyperX Fury has the same controller as its HyperX 3K sibling; the only difference between the two drives is the use of cheaper Micron 20nm NAND in the newer Fury. Comparing the performance differences between the HyperX Fury and 3K shows that the newer 20nm NAND results in an effective performance decrease of around 30% for a price saving of just 12%. The Fury was never aimed at the high performance sector of the market but given the known compressible performance weaknesses of its Sandforce 2281 controller and its relatively non-budget price tag, the 120GB Fury will struggle to find rational takers in today's market. There are far better value alternatives available for just a few more dollars. [Sep '14 SSDrivePro]
