The OCZ Vector 180 has a five year warranty and is rated for 50GB/day over that time. In terms of hardware the Vector 180 is basically a rebadged two year old Vector 150. The 180 does feature "Power Failure Management Plus" which protects data that has already been written to the drive but any data that is in the process of being written is still at risk. In terms of performance the Vector 180, like its predecessor (Vector 150) is very strong. With an effective speed of 98.7% the Vector appears to hold its own with the likes of the similarly priced Samsung 850 Pro. But taking a closer look at the performance differences between the 850 Pro and Vector 180 shows that although the headline speeds are comparable, the Vector has significantly slower 4K Mixed IO speeds, this won't impact most consumers but it could be a sticking point for power users. The 250GB Crucial BX100 SSD is the value orientated variant of Crucial's M range of SSDs. The BX100 uses the same NAND as its premium MX200 sibling but the BX100 uses a Silicon Motion controller as opposed to the Marvel controller found in the MX range. Feature wise the BX100 is missing SLC caching and there is no hardware encryption (so security frameworks such as windows Bitlocker will operate less efficiently). In terms of I/O performance the BX100 looks promising. Comparing the BX100 and MX100 shows that the newer BX100 may be faster than its predecessor but as yet there are insufficient user benchmarks to draw any definitive conclusions. The BX100 has only just started hitting the shelves so there's plenty of room for price reductions from its already reasonable price tag. I will revisit this review when I have more performance data for the BX100. [Jan '15SSDrivePro]
